First of all, we’re not buying it, and we don’t know who the hell C.D. Kaplan’s source is, but we do love to spread rumors. Like the one that has U of L athletic director Tom Jurich being lured from L.A. (Louisville Area) to the real L.A. (the lovely campus in Westwood, home of the UCLA Bruins).
According to Kaplan’s sports blog over at LEO, the UCLA athletic program is willing to break the bank for Jurich, whose star inside the world of college athletics directors isn’t yet tainted. Even if it turns out that Steve Kragthorpe was a bad hire.
Jurich will stick around, because building a new basketball arena and a football stadium addition are worth seeing to completion, and he’s already got a fat contract. Still, it’ll be interesting to see if the rumor goes anywhere.

Jurich is the bomb in his profession, so it’s actually surprising it’s taken this long for a school of UCLA’s stature to flirt with him, if it’s doing that at all. His staying this long is akin to Crum staying as long as he did; it’s just unusual anymore.
I’d hate it if he left, but I’d not begrudge him such a decision. At the end of the day, he’s the guy paying the bills for his family, and he gets to make the call, no one else. He’s made an incredible impact here, a legacy that would far outlast a departure even now.
Regardless, I vote you stick around, Tom!

He’s done a very good job, especially with the “non revenue “sports, but if he keeps sticking by Gomer I suggest he leaves before the only red in the new expanded football stadium is the color of the seats.

Really been amazing to watch him put the warchest Olsen left behind to work.

Even if?

If the rumors are true, he’s history. He grew up in Arcadia CA, you know. Not far from Santa Anita. Running the show at UCLA would be hard for an L.A. boy to turn down.
Besides, what more does he have to prove here?
