Two, or More, Choices Today

April 17th, 2009 by admin · 1 Comment

I know, there are dozens of activities going on today, but two in particular are worthy of your attention, especially as you’re looking for worthy outdoor activity to celebrate the sunshine. Spring Fever!

Starting at 4 at Longest Ave. and Bardstown Rd., Kentuckians for the Commonwealth is having a “Louisville Loves Mountains” festival. Kentucky authors Silas House and Erik Reece will be there, along with several musicians. Food and drink from local vendors will be provided. The event is sponsored by Heine Bros. and Carmichael’s Bookstore. It’ll be going on from 4-10 p.m.

From 5:30 to 7 at CityBlock downtown, the Small Business Alliance is saluting the area’s police, firefighters and EMS workers with a Pre-Thunder Bash. This group is primarily made up for business owners who have a beef, for one reason or another, with Mayor Abramson and his administration.

If you’re looking for other cool stuff to do, try LEO’s Event Horizon blog, this list at Louisville.com, or go see this movie about the newspaper business.

As for official Derby Festival events, today’s the start. Robin Roberts is speaking at the They’re Off Luncheon (great excuse to have a Mint Julep at Lunch!) and tonight is the Fillies Ball.
