WHAS, WLKY Win More Murrows

April 9th, 2009 by admin · No Comments

Forget about all that talk of declining revenue, the woeful economy and the decline of television news. Local stations are winning awards.

WHAS-TV and WLKY-TV won prestigious regional Edward R. Murrow Awards, considered the top prize for television stations in terms of quality journalism. WHAS got the prize for Overall Excellence. WLKY won for Continuous Coverage (Family Matters). WHAS won in Investigative Reporting for its Robert Felner series (we want a share of that one!). WLKY won Best Newscast, entering a show from the Windstorm.

WKYT in Lexington picked up two prizes in the small market competition.

The stations competed in Region 8, which includes Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina and West Virginia. (weird, I know).  Congrats to the winners.
