A Contest for Cowboys, Junkies and Fans

March 25th, 2009 by admin · 10 Comments

This Saturday, the Canadian alt-rock group the Cowboy Junkies are playing a show at Whitney Hall with the Louisville Orchestra.

It’s the final show in the BB&T Strings Attached series.

In their bio, the four-member band claims to have put the country into alternative, and put alternative into country. Sort of like being cable before cable was cool.

So we’ve got a pair of tickets to give away, and another silly little contest to make you earn them. Here’s the deal:

Come up with an interesting sentence that includes the words “Cowboy” and “Junkies” and make us laugh. Leave your entry in the Comments section below before Noon on Thursday, and our esteemed and totally biased judging crew will declare a winner. You’ll get two great seats for Saturday’s show and the chance to boast to your significant other that it was your creative wit that got you in free.

Matt Dillon played a junky in the movie Drugstore Cowboy; it wasn’t that great.

Jim “Cowboy” Bunning once again apologized to the media in his weekly conference call when he called them “Junkies”, saying he meant to say “Flunkies”.

The good ol cowboys, scaring them junkies off from those cordish hens the mayor of this town can’t lay off of.

With enough of daddy’s money, even a girl who dates junkies and sports a cowboy tramp stamp, can be elected to the judiciary in Louisville.
