Let’s Have Our Own Women’s Popularity Contest

Over at Today’s Woman, they have this Most Admired Woman competition in which the public votes for its favorites in a dozen categories.  The list of nominees includes some of the most high-profile, successful women in town, but we’re especially interested in the category of Media.

We love all the nominees and appreciate their work. And don’t want to upset any of them by choosing one.

Candyce Clifft – WDRB-41
Francene Cucinello – 84 WHAS Radio
Angie Fenton – Courier-Journal Features
Lynda Lambert – 102.3-FM
Rachael Platt – WHAS-11 TV
Charla Young – WAVE 3

So who is your choice? Or who’s not here who should be?

  1. I vote for Javacia N. Harris of Velocity. She is an excellent writer who is also very active in the community. She is not one to blow her own horn, but she is making an impact with her stories and her column.

  2. It has to be Candyce Clifft. She is very very good at what she does, smart and professional. She is very community minded and a special Mom! Most importantly she has to sit on the set for 4 hours with Barry Bernson and listen to the drivel spewed by their weather idiot. The last sentence alone wins her this prize hands down.

  3. I would like to go off the board and vote for Janelle MacDonald. She is very professional, articulate pleasant to watch.

  4. I’d have to say Lynda Lambert. Their morning show is awesome and she’s very much into giving back to the community!

  5. I would say Charla Young. She has gotten nearly $4 million worth of results for the community. That woman is the Troubleshooter… She freakin rocks.

  6. Candyce Clifft will be one of the most enduring, versatile media players in this town. There is no question to her talent, integrity or sense of humor. And she’s a sports chick! She far outshines the other “personalities” on in Louisville media.

  7. The list is much too short. I’m with Mark Bacon, Julie Kredens. If I have to stay on the list, for pure service to the community, Charla Young.

  8. Does the category of “Media” include corporate communications? If so, I give a nod to Kerri Richardson. She speaks well extemporaneously, prounounces all of the words correctly and seems to know what she’s talking about. I like on on WHAS and she’s doing ok w/Metro Gov’t.

  9. Kerri always looks like she’s tired of dealing with idiots.

I’d go with Janelle, if only because she seems more at ease anchoring the news by herself than many others do in a team. Candyce and Rachel also.

I don’t understand your undying love for Francine. And I find some of Charla Young’s reporting to be lacking.

  10. Julie Kredens of WFPL hands down. The very best, the brightest and most talented of the whole bunch.

  11. Francine is Rush with a vagina. Love her disrespect calling our President Bam. The
unprofessionalism calling people babe and honey
and rarely taking an opposing quest views without
    hanging up.

  12. Julie Kredens, WFPL. Engaging, curious, easy on the ears. She’s an intelligent woman who elevates the discourse in Louisville.

  13. Not me Rhonda…Ikenberg inserts way too many of her unfunny comments and secret obsessions that no one cares to read into her columns. Her obession with the program no one watches- Project Runway- should be left to an internet blog for her and her pals
