Thanks Mark. I agree with your point. The reporting so far about this money has been very uninformed and I saw no attempts by Berman to make them more informed. Very troubling.

Jake and Rick, would you consider starting a new blog just to track this stimulus money? And give people a voice in reporting what is going on?

My point is that the if the money really goes to Title 1 and IDEA that would be great, but I heard the Superintendent on WHAS talking about how this money was going to keep JCPS from having to lay off staff.

I just hope the money actually gets to you, that's all.

There needs to be full transparency to the public on how this money is being spent. The student populations served by Title 1 and IDEA are the most vulnerable. The vast undereducation of the public about this money and how it should be spent is reflected in the previous comments from Mark and Gordon. They obviously don't have a clue what Title 1 and IDEA is. The sad part is that the parents of students who benefit from these federal protections don't have a clue either.

Newsflash: Didn't ask if you thought "legal Americans" should be the only beneficiaries of the "stimulus"...

I asked for your thoughts on JCPS getting $50 million+ for Title 1 and IDEA.

Mark, you are right on. This bill is ugly in so many ways, catering to many groups that don't need it or deserve it. They should have split up the 800 billion among legal Americans. That would be a stimulus!

While noble, I'm not quite sure of the immediate stimulus value here...

Sounds more like we're supporting teacher union jobs to me. Most of the stimulus projects I have seen in the plan, seem to fall well within the reach of the roots of the union tree.
