DQ the DQs: What would local TV do without those Dairy Queen, Arby’s and Sonic ads? There’s a new study out that blames fast-food advertising for how fat kids are, and calls for a ban on the ads. Gee, I can’t imagine those gravy-lapping DQ lips making anyone want to eat there.
Today’s 93.9 Programming Note: While speculation is swirling around town that Tom Jurich was the undoing of 93.9 the Ticket, it’s curious to hearĀ the dated music coming out of the station today. Seems like Cumulus would have had some sort of programming plan ready before firing its sports lineup.
Butts Out: If you didn’t know, today’s the Great American Smokeout, in which smokers are encouraged to try and quit for a day. Used to get a lot more attention, didn’t it?
Don’t Go Low: There’s an actual organized campaign to get young urban males to pull their pants up. The group’s leader will address the Metro Council tonight. [C-J]
Drive On, Gas is Cheap: Who’d a thunk you could get a gallon of gas for $1.74 in Louisville. [C-J]
No Mercy : The guys cheating the VA out of benefits have a special place in hell, according to Jake. He’s right. Big scandal ahead. [Page One]
Whirlybird Update: Somebody’s lost track of the city’s controversial helicopter, or so it sounds from the WAVE promo. [WAVE]

I don’t understand how anyone listens to local radio anymore (except WFPQ). Especially with this week the combination of SIRIUS and XM music stations hitting both customer bases… the music selection is like heaven on Earth. Local radio like Clear Channel is old news.

that DQ gravy commercial actually came on as I was reading this. It’s so disgusting, it makes me want to throw up.

I can’t stand biscuits and gravy. The site of it makes me want to puke, so the DQ commercial makes me want to run screaming from the room.

So as I understand it, the city sold the one remaining working helicopter that they had while the other one is out of service. I think they should have gotten at least one of them in service first and then sold the other one. Where is the priorities in this city with government and the so called leadership running this city. Its a disaster what these people have been doing for the last 25 years.
To listen to Abramson you always get a bunch of new stories, lies, whoppers, misinformation, propaganda, I think the guy can’t tell the truth and thats being nice. It seems that for every failure this community experiences economically, socially, politically, there is another excuse. Its time for the excuses to end and get some real leadership in this city.
Not a bunch of want to be leaders who can beat their chests.
